How Did I Write my Groom Wedding Speech that Stunned my wife, my parents, my friends, family and even my parents in law?

I always knew that when my future wife and I decided to get married I would have to write a nice, beautiful and funny groom wedding speech, but I never knew, nor realized how important that speech was going to be! In front of everyone who is important in your life at the most important moment of your life. As with exams at school in the past, also with my groom wedding speech, I left it for weeks before I even realized that I was going to actually write it.

So my first advise about planning is. Don't make the mistake I did, but plan well ahead!

When you first start thinking about your groom speech it can look like a really challenging task.

As the date got closer and closer I tried to think of an inspirational, yet charming and funny groom’s wedding speech and definitely was NOT just coming to me. So what I eventually decided to do was to sit down and just write some small thoughts that popped into my head.

Now, you have to believe me, when I say that there are better ways to plan a groom wedding toast or speech, but this was great way to get started with some ideas.

When I started using speech prompts and guides I soon started to write down some information about me and my lovely bride Jessy. How long we have been together, where we have met and of course some important moment we had together, negative and of course positive. All simply in my own words.

Very last important point to remember! Don't worry about the order! Actually don't think you are writing your Groom Wedding Speech in the first place, or any wedding speech jokes. Just put down your thoughts and you will see and feel you're start going into the right direction.

How to Please all in your Groom Wedding Speech?

The groom wedding speech is not a completely free piece of writing with funny and hilarious moments about you and your bride. It is actually also there as a way to make sure you don’t leave anybody out! It took me personally quite a long time to realize this, but basically it is about keeping everyone satisfied and happy to make sure your wedding day is perfect!

1. Thanking The Right People

One of the first things I incorporated into my grooms speech was to say thanks to just anyone who had got me to where I was on that wedding day. Of course this was my lovely bride and my best man, however I included literary everyone who gave me help & advice – and made sure to give them a royal thank you. Don’t forget the father of the groom wedding speeches, your own dad and her dad! He will often have a lot to say about you, so it is nice and needed to say something positive about them too and of course always thank him first before you continuing with the rest of the speech.

2. Mentioning Your Family

Even though I probably told the story thousands of times to my friends and family, I thought it is best to start my grooms speech with a story about how I met my beautiful bride Jessy. This always goes very well, and is a great warm-up to please the crowd for all of those who have made such an effort to be there on the big day - your wedding!

Next, I will try to add in anecdotes or praise of my family. After all, this is an important occasion and probably your best chance to show the special people in your life what they mean to you.

Remember, your wedding day is to celebrate the love for you and your bride with everyone who is important for you. Even though I was really having bad night sleep about my groom wedding speech, it did not take me long to realize that it is not so difficult please everybody with some nice words in my grooms speech.

Groom Toasts – Saw the Right Words!

Saying the wrong thing in a groom toasts could be a complete disaster for your wedding day! Therefore I really wanted to avoid this and so should you! Therefore I looked up a number of great groom wedding speech tips to help you avoid this embarrassing situation.

1. Alcohol

No matter how good you have prepared your wedding speech (for sure better than I did as you are reading this information!) the number one enemy for your speech is alcohol. However I decided to hold off a lot of drinking until the speech was over and I am very glad I did!

It might seem to sound very obvious, but believe me there are grooms that did it and still do it! Even if you want to compare your fresh new wife, positively compared with your previous relationships, if she’s anything like my wife Jessy or any other ordinary women, she will not appreciate it on the most important day of you and her life!

You should speak positive and lovely about your bride at all times. Though it may seem cool and nice to add a small joke, this is not the right situation for it. In my speech I stuck to what I knew my bride would want me to say, and it worked out very well for everyone.

Another thing that made the grooms speeches so stressful to me was the fact I did not plan well ahead. And not planning ahead means that you have less control of what you say. Luckily there are now plenty of sources of advise online. One of them I used is this one and so I had a funny wedding speech that didn't offend anyone.

At last, no matter how well you want to say things, don't make it too long. Make it sharp and at the right size of about 10 minutes.

I used it as a way of getting attention and making sure they were enjoying my speech and also focused. In any toast, the groom should be the center of attention and keep it that way, and the groom should then of course never forget also to direct the attention to his bride.

The best way to use this tactic , is to have within your speech, now ans then a few good jokes. Say some emotional things, then put a slice of humor to keep everyone relaxed and focused. Don't forget that some people already have some alcohol, so to keep them focused is important.

Make eye contact with your audience, and don’t fix your view into one direction. I found that practicing really helped me to speak and at the same time change my view every 5 or 10 seconds.

The groom should all the time feel like having a relaxed conversation with old friends, which actually is the case. The only difference is you are standing, the are sitting and it is a more monologue.
